Historical landmark designation for St. Adalbert Parish Complex at 1622-1658 W 17th St and 1633-1659 W 16th St
The Commission on Chicago Landmarks has designated the St. Adalbert Parish Complex, located in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood, as a Chicago Landmark. The complex, designed by architect Henry J. Schlacks, exemplifies the 'American Renaissance' and ecclesiastic architecture, reflecting the cultural heritage of Polish and Mexican communities. Comprising the former St. Adalbert Church, Rectory, Convent, and School Buildings, it meets four criteria of the Municipal Code of Chicago. A plaque will be installed to mark its landmark status.
