Call for hearing(s) on City's plans to mitigate and respond to future extreme flooding
On July 2, 2023, Chicago's extreme weather event led to a six-foot rise in the Chicago River, 2,000 flooding complaints, and significant property damage, disproportionately affecting Black and brown residents. In response to climate change predictions, the city's Environmental Protection, Public Safety committees, and the Chicago Department of Transportation are called to an emergency hearing, with outreach from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Governor JB Pritzker.
